When it comes to luxury furniture pieces and authentic African carvings, mongongo wood is one of the most widely used materials, thanks to its special properties. It is known worldwide both for its mongongo fruit, but especially for the fact that it is an exotic hardwood species with a dense texture and remarkable strength.
And, very importantly, mongongo wood can be processed by hand, carving into a single massive piece of trunk.
That’s why, for the creation of large furniture models (armchairs), we opted for hand-carved mongongo wood, in a single piece. Its colour is slightly lighter than that of mahogany, but this is an advantage for observing details representative of African tribal art.
